my customer list is run by My Customer List Pty Ltd, Melbourne, Victoria. We provide a service that lets a business collect customer details in exchange for an offer, and email those customers on the business’s behalf. Questions or requests: privacy@mycustomerlist.com.
If you run a business that uses my customer list, we hold your account details (name, email, password hash, business details, billing status) to provide the service. We are the controller of that information.
If you scanned a card at a business, the details you entered belong to that business. The business decides what to do with them; we store and send on its behalf and do not use your details for anything else. Requests about your details go to the business first, and to us at the address above if you would rather.
Your email address, and depending on the offer, your first name, mobile number and birthday. We also record when you signed up, which offer, the code you were issued, whether and when it was redeemed, and — if you ticked the box — the exact wording you agreed to, when, and the network address it came from. That last record exists so consent can be proven if anyone ever asks.
Every customer gets one email with their code. Businesses may send offers and news only to customers who ticked the marketing box, and every such email carries an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately. We do not send marketing to customers ourselves, and we do not sell or share customer lists with anyone.
Our servers, database and email sending are in Australia (Sydney). We use Amazon Web Services for hosting and email delivery and Stripe for payments; Stripe holds card details, we never see them. Standard analytics and error-tracking tools may process technical data such as browser type and pages visited.
Customer details stay for as long as the business keeps its account, or until the customer or business deletes them. When a customer asks to be removed, we delete their name, mobile and birthday and keep only the email address on a do-not-contact list so the business cannot email them again by accident. Account and billing records are kept for as long as Australian tax law requires.
You can see what is held about you, correct it, download it, unsubscribe, or have it deleted. Customers can do all of this from the “Manage preferences” link in any email, without an account. If you think we have got something wrong, tell us at privacy@mycustomerlist.com; if we cannot sort it out, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we email business account holders before it takes effect.
